About Ray DuBois

Throughout his career, Ray has demonstrated that leadership is about results.

When he purchased the Ron Paul Garden Centre, 17 years ago, it was a small seasonal business. Through hard work, financial discipline, and a clear vision, he grew it into one of the region's largest greenhouse and landscape supply employers, supporting over 110 local jobs.

Running a business at that scale requires budgeting, planning, people management, and daily problem-solving. It demands accountability, foresight, and the ability to listen, qualities Ray will bring to City Hall. He understands that strong communities are built by creating opportunities, supporting local businesses, and making thoughtful decisions that benefit everyone.

Ray's leadership extends beyond the workplace. As a coach at a variety of sports and ages, he has dedicated his time to helping young people build confidence, develop skills, and work together toward a common goal. He believes the best leaders don't simply direct others, they encourage, mentor, and help people succeed.

Ray's Priorities

Residents have told Ray what matters most. Ray is committed to practical solutions that strengthen our community while respecting taxpayers and preserving what makes our neighbourhoods a great place to live.

Public Safety

Families are frustrated. Constant break-ins to cars, garages, and sheds have them waking up to damage before a day's work, and thefts at local shops and safety on transit remain real concerns across the ward. Ray has heard it, and he's committed to safer streets through smart, lasting solutions.

Public Transit

The 2025 redesign left the south end behind, and Ray will fight to fix it. Riders here face more transfers, longer trips, and unreliable evening service. Transit should connect people to work, school, healthcare, and local businesses safely and efficiently, and right now, it falls short.

Green Space & Community Clubs

Our parks and clubs are where community happens and they deserve investment. Local community clubs and centres are aging, and groups struggle to find clean, safe, affordable space to meet and play. Residents want existing green space protected from development, not paved over.

Development That Fits

Growth is welcome and encouraged but it shouldn't erase the character and feel of the neighbourhoods’ residents already love. People want a real say in what's built in their own backyards.

Infrastructure Management

Reliable roads and smarter project planning across the ward. Our main arteries, side streets, and back lanes all need attention and when too many projects hit one area at once, whole neighbourhoods get shut down for far too long.

In The Community

Volunteering through community coaching in hockey, soccer, volleyball, and lacrosse at various levels since 1992.

Hockey referee in the Fort Richmond, St. Vital and St. Boniface.

Worked with the City of Winnipeg on the Graham Ave project to help facilitate a pedestrian corridor for the community to enjoy at no cost to the taxpayer.

Annual donation drives for the Bear Clan Patrol who offer help without judgement, create space for healing, and respond with empathy to the real needs of the community.

Provide a secure location for the Yazidi community of Winnipeg to seed and grow their vegetables to help feed their community through their community garden project.

Raised funds and created a scholarship for a local high school to be awarded annually.

Experience sitting on numerous boards to provide direction to various groups.

Actively support local youth with direct fiscal support for individual sports and group sponsorships.

Support the integration of those in recovery with jobs to help foster a sense of pride in themselves to facilitate their transition off the streets and into a productive life.

Personally implemented from scratch an All-Star Day for all age groups in minor hockey at the A3 level and raised over $50,000 dollars for KidSport Manitoba.
